Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney is the new captain of the England football team.
Rooney succeeds Steven Gerrard, who retired after England's poor showing at the World Cup.
The 28-year-old has 95 caps and has also just been appointed skipper of Manchester United.
